People | Agents Who Represented ‘Brady Bunch’ House Buyer Respond to Her ‘Worst Investment Ever’ Comment (Exclusive)

Fredrik Eklund and Marcy Roth are responding to The Brady Bunch house buyer’s “worst investment ever” comment.

The Douglas Elliman agents represented the superfan buyer, Tina Trahan, who bought the famous sitcom house in Studio City, Los Angeles. The home’s front facade was used for exterior shots on The Brady Bunch, while interior scenes were filmed on a soundstage.

After purchasing the home for $3.2 million, Trahan admitted to The Wall Street Journal on Monday that “nobody is going to live in it” as it’s “almost like a life-size dollhouse.”

PEOPLE spoke to Eklund and Roth about their thoughts on the property and the buyer’s reaction.

“Tina has a great sense of humor and didn’t purchase the property as an income-producing objective,” Roth tells PEOPLE, referring to her client’s comment. “It’s not an investment for her in the sense that she is going to flip it. She bought it with the intention of hosting charity events and to keep it intact.”

Roth adds that while the home is undoubtedly “a work of art” and not like a “typical property,” she explains that “it’s not a liveable home with modern conveniences.” This is most likely why it sold for about 9 percent less than what the former owner, the HGTV network, paid for it in 2018, she shares.

The network purchased the home (after famously outbidding Lance Bass) for $3.5 million, almost double the listing price. Once they secured the property, they called on HGTV stars and the six actors who starred as The Brady Bunch kids in the original sitcom to completely remodel the home’s interior on the series A Very Brady Renovation.

While the abode, built in 1959 and owned by the same family for five decades, was only used for exterior shots on the classic show, HGTV was determined to transform the inside into an exact replica of the TV set that fans loved.

All six of the famous Brady siblings reunited for the first time in 15 years for the special series, including Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick(Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy).

The series concluded with the reveal of the renovated home, which included the orange and avocado-green kitchen that viewers loved on the original Brady Bunch and an additional 3,000 square feet added to create a second level.

After working with the nostalgic property, Roth opened up to PEOPLE about her first memory of seeing the home. “When I first walked into the property, it was surreal! It brought back such a big part of my childhood, reminding me of how my friends used to joke and say, ‘Marcy! Marcy! Marcy!'”
